Welcome to KVK,Amethi

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kathaura Amethi is a newly established KVK under the control of Acharya Narendra Dev University of Agriculture & Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya. KVK sanctioned on dated 08 March 2018 and it came in to existence on dated 13 April 2018 after the Bhoomi Poojan by Mrs. Smriti Jubin Irani Ji, Hon’ble Minister, Government of India. KVK is situated in village Kathaura near Jagdeeshpur on national highway 56 at about 75 KM from Lucknow and about 50 KM from district headquarter Amethi (Gauriganj). KVK has 13.0 ha land in its farm with irrigation facility. Other facilities like administrative building, training hall etc. is under construction. The land use pattern of KVK is as follows

Mandate of the KVK

“Technology Assessment and Demonstration for its Application and Capacity Development”

To implement the mandate effectively, the following activities are envisaged by the KVK

1. On-farm testing to assess the location specificity of agricultural technologies under various farming systems.
2. Frontline demonstrations to establish production potential of technologies on the farmers’ fields.
3. Capacity development of farmers and extension personnel to update their knowledge and skills on modern agricultural technologies.
4. To work as Knowledge and Resource Centre of agricultural technologies for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector in improving the agricultural economy of the district.
5. Provide farm advisories using ICT and other media means on varied subjects of interest to farmers.
6. In addition, KVKs produce quality technological products (seed, planting material, bio-agents, livestock) and make it available to farmers, organize frontline extension activities, identify and document selected farm innovations and converge with ongoing schemes and programs within the mandate of KVK.

Improvement of productivity of crop, fruits and vegetables with the introduction of H.Y.V, Hybrid varieties, latest management technology and package of practices.

Promotion of integrated farming system.

Promotion of organic farming, improvement of soil health and minimization of chemical use.

Promotion of saline/sodic soil management technologies.

Reduction in post harvest losses and promotion of value addition.

Crop diversification and introduction of high value crops.

Breed improvement, health care and feeding management in live-stock.

Promotion of Agro-based industries for income generation.
